Gender Sensitive Initiatives (GSI) is a leading National Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Kenya, founded in 1993 and registered under the NGOs Coordination Board. Our mission is to empower communities to participate in sustainable development by solving their challenges using available resources."
With over a decade of experience, GSI has built a strong track record in building and strengthening community systems and groups to tackle social and economic development challenges facing vulnerable populations in Kenya. Our community-driven approach focuses on building the capacity of local structures and systems to identify, innovate, address, and respond to challenges in a proactive and sustainable manner.
At GSI, we believe that communities have the resources within them to bring about sustainable development if properly harnessed and utilized. We work tirelessly to empower communities through gender-responsive interventions, promoting education, livelihood, and health, and championing rights while promoting leadership and civic engagement

GSI is a watering organization and a catalyst in community empowerment by engaging with communities in a facilitative role. GSI utilizes participatory approaches to facilitate sharing of information and knowledge, community mobilizing and organizing, and capacity building to ensure community ownership and sustainability of solutions.
